Dr. Natasha Burke promoted and awarded tenure

Yvette Karvay awarded Fordham Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Research Fellowship

06.17.24: Congratulations to Yvette for being awarded a (very competitive!) Research Fellowship for her dissertation studying the validation and reliability of the FAREBQ as well as a qualitative assessment of food availability, eating behaviors & body image. Over the upcoming year, Yvette will be proposing the dissertation, doing data collection, writing and then defending her dissertation. She will also be working on several food insecurity and eating behavior-related manuscripts.

James Demetrius accepted to the NextGen Psych Scholars Program 

06.17.23: Congratulations to James on his acceptance to the NextGen Psych Scholars Program (NPSP), a mentorship program for undergraduates and post-baccalaureates interested in applying to psychology PhD programs. The NPSP celebrates and inspires the next generation while enhancing feelings of belongingness in academia. Congratulations to James on this incredible accomplishment!

Julia Yermash awarded Fordham University Summer Research Fellowship

05.03.23: Congratulations to Julia for being awarded a (very competitive!) Summer Research Fellowship for her project exploring eating disorder pathology and generational status. Over the summer, Julia will be working on collecting and analyzing data on existing literature and writing a systematic review to explore this relationship, laying the foundation for a future predoctoral fellowship application.

Tatyana Bidopia wins Academy for Eating Disorders (AED) Top-Scoring Abstract Award 

04.12.23: Congratulations to Tatyana for winning the AED award for Top-Scoring Poster Abstract by a student/trainee/early career professional at the International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED) 2023 for her poster, "Intersectional discrimination and disordered eating behaviors and attitudes in young adults." Tatyana will be presenting this work at ICED in June. Congratulations to Tatyana (& her co-authors)!


Molly Lataille and Kendall Tso inducted into the Scientific Research Honors Society, Sigma Xi

03.30.23: Congratulations to Molly and Kendall for being inducted into Fordham University's chapter of Sigma Xi for their work on Jill's dissertation examining the relationship between food insecurity, snack choice and eating behaviors in adolescents. Thank you, Molly and Kendall, for moving this important research forward!

Tatyana Bidopia wins Diversity Travel Award for ObesityWeek 2022

Congratulations to Tatyana for winning a Diversity Travel Award for ObesityWeek 2022. Tatyana will be presenting a poster entitled, "Do Acculturation and Enculturation Moderate the Relationship Between Food Insecurity and BMI?" at The Obesity Society's ObesityWeek in November.  Congratulations to Tatyana (& her co-authors)!

Lakumi Dias inducted into the Scientific Research Honors Society, Sigma Xi

Congratulations to Lakumi for being inducted into Fordham University's chapter of Sigma Xi based on her Honors Thesis (mentored by Dr. Burke) that focuses on examining the moderating effect of race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status on the association between trauma and disordered eating. Lakumi will be presenting this work in May at the Honors Colloquium and the Honors Tea. Great job, Lakumi!

Tatyana Bidopia awarded Fordham University Summer Research Fellowship

Congratulations to Tatyana for being awarded a (very competitive!) Summer Research Fellowship for her project exploring eating behaviors, body image, and interpersonal relationships in Latina girls. Over the summer, Tatyana will be working on collecting focus group data and conducting analyses to serve as pilot data for predoctoral fellowship applications.
